I really want to go to……Almeria

It’s the end of March. I know, I know.

And you know what? We’re at that point in which it’s time to seriously plan the summer holidays. Ah yes, the summer holidays usually filled with beaches, good food and good wine.

But I have no summer holiday plans! And I need a beach! I used to like the idea of doing a city break and mixing it in with the beach but now i’m a full time Londoner (yes that is a thing) I just want the beach.

So where should I go? With flight prices to Spain, i’ve been searching a few days’ break and one location that seems to be a bit of a hit is Almeria.

I mean look at it. Not only that but it has the lowest rainfall amount in Europe which means you’re guaranteed a good time in the sun.

So i’ve put together a list of reasons to go to Almeria:

Well I mean that’s obvious but seriously beaches. From the larger beaches to the unspoilt ones, there are plenty to choose from. In fact on a more quieter day you might just struggle to find anyone else on the beach.

Bordenares beach sounds right up my alley, hidden from the towns and right out of view meaning it’s just you and the beach.

Another good beach is Arrecife de las Sirenas and from the look of this picture it looks good at night too.

Because every holiday needs good music and dancing and Almeria has flamenco! And what better what to feel a country’s culture than to get involved.

The south of Spain is the home of Flamenco and can be traced back hundreds of years.

There is a Spanish mini Hollywood

Yes that’s right. There is a mini Hollywood in Almeria.

Not only that but it’s been used in films such as Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade as well as A Fistful of Dollars.

If you like Western films filled with cowboys then this is for you. You can even try your hand at pretending to be a cowboy – just remember your boots.

It’s home to a big desert

Not only do you have beautiful beaches, there is also the Tabernas desert. It’s some 30 km north of Almeria and is a great way to spend some time exploring in the desert sun.

It’s also crammed full of wildlife from lizards to snakes and birds so be sure to bring your camera with you.

And so there you have it. I mean after this, why would you not want to go to Almeria?

If you are going to go then it’s wise to book a villa in order to explore and feel more at home. Here’s some of the best villas to rent in Almeria.

This post does include a sponsored link but I seriously do want to go to Almeria and pretend to be a cowboy. All thoughts and views my own.
