A complete guide to the best views in Paris

Paris is one of those cities where there is something beautiful on every street corner. I can easily spend hours just wandering around the city and looking at the stunning buildings.

But the French capital is best seen from above and there are so many options when it comes to getting the best view.

Here’s my favourite places to get the best view of Paris.

The Peninsula rooftop bar

This is a place where spending some cash is seriously worth it. I’m not talking about going all out and getting dinner there, but grabbing a cocktail or a mocktail.

The Peninsula Hotel has a fantastic rooftop bar that has one of the best views of Paris. One one end you’ve got the Eiffel Tower and on the other you’ve got an amazing view of the Sacre Coeur.

And they also have some amazing cocktails and are very generous on the free nuts and olives.

I finally got around to visiting it on my last trip and now feel like I need to make it a regular occurrence on every trip to Paris!

It can get incredibly busy but it’s well worth popping in to see if they have a table or bar seat for you. When I visited, it said on the website that there wasn’t any space for months but when I went there in person they had plenty of space and even notified us when a better table came up.

The Eiffel Tower

Well it’s on the bucketlist anyway right?

The Eiffel Tower has one of the best views of Paris without the Eiffel Tower in it, that’s for sure. You can see La Defense, Notre Dame and a number of other famous landmarks

I always like to walk up the Eiffel Tower to the second floor because it’s cheaper, the queue is shorter and you definitely notice more on the way up.

Arc de Triomphe

The Arc de Triomphe is one of the most photographed landmarks in Paris but I think the view from the top of it is very special.

I love spending time at the top, watching the traffic trying to manoeuvre around the “craziest roundabout in Europe”. It’s both entertaining and absolutely terrifying.

It’s a fun way of seeing daily life in Paris.

Printempts roof

Pritempts is one of the major department stores in Paris but the secret is that it has an amazing view from its roof.

In order to get there you have to go through the cafe – you don’t need to buy anything!

The roof has great views of the Eiffel Tower and also Madeleine.

It’s always one of my go-to stops while in the French capital.

Montmartre

Monmartre

Montmartre has the beautiful Sacre Coeur but it also has some stunning views overlooking Paris.

It’s a tough walk up to the top – I definitely needed a break when I tried it – but the views are so worth it. It’s definitely worth taking a picnic with you and watching the sunset over the city.

And when you’re done spend the rest of your evening walking around the beautiful area.
